In September 2004 I hosted a tour of distilleries on the Royal Scotsman – which is described as "the ultimate train experience". We visited a handful of Scotland's most famous distilleries and tased some memorable drams in the company of some leading whisky experts.
So far, this has not been repeated, but the Royal Scotsman Company are keen to do so if there is sufficient interest. Berths on the train are limited to a maximum of thirty-six (there are twelve members of staff on board!), so bring your friends!
The entertainment, food and service on the train is comparable with that in the finest hotels in the world; the added thrill of travelling at a leisurely pace through some of the world's loveliest scenery makes the whole event a once-in-a-lifetime's experience.
